Interested in socializing with BCC friends and learning a few new things about bike mechanics and maintenance at the same time? Or maybe you are a skilled mechanic and can help teach others?
We have partnered with Broke Spoke,
our local nonprofit bike shop
http://thebrokespoke.org/
for this social event. Broke Spoke will be our host and provide the workstations, tools, and beer for the evening. There will be a simple dinner of sandwiches from DV8 and desserts from Sunrise Bakery will be served.
After dinner, we will organize a fun competition of bike repair skills - we will organize small groups at each of the 8 work benches and we will see which group can complete the bike repair task the fastest such as removing and installing pedals, tearing down a wheel, changing a tire, removing a seat and seat post, etc. No bike skill repair experience required! But, we guarantee you will go home with some new bike knowledge and skills!
No BCC social is complete with riding our bikes, so there will bike races (on kids bikes!) on the attached Legacy Trail and/or on the nearby bike polo spots.
There will be a FB event page for you to register so we can plan our food requirements.
*
Broke Spoke is located in the Breadbox (the West Sixth Brewery building) and the door for the bike shop is on the Legacy Trail just off of Sixth Street.
