Primary ride leader: Christine Cole, 859-333-6736
Distance:
This is a 50-mile route starting in Washington Park, Maysville, riding along the Ohio river past 2 covered bridges to Augusta, over the Ohio on a ferry, along the river on the Ohio side, and back across the Harsha suspension Bridge into Maysville.
Pace: All Comers Ride
Terrain: 2 - Easy Rollers, 3 - Moderate Rollers
Map and cue sheet both provided.
The ride will have regrouping.
The ride is swept.
Rain cancels - check bgcycling.org forum one hour before if unsure.
Restroom facilities are available at the starting location.
There will be a store stop.
Overall Difficulty:
moderate with one strenuous climb near the end.
Details:
I plan to ride at 14 mph. Faster riders are welcome, but will not have a separate ride leader. Due to the ferry crossing, the ride may be cancelled not only due to rain, but also due to high water, high winds, or mechanical problems when the ferry cannot run. I will call to check and post on facebook and the BCC Forum after 8 am on the ride day.
We hope to join some of the Limestone Cycling League there to ride.
There are plenty of store stops available in small towns along the way. Riders are encouraged to take their time and explore, particularly in Augusta, Kentucky; Ripley, Ohio; and Maysville/Washington, Kentucky. Augusta is particularly well-situated for a lunch stop, and there is a Fall Colors Festival held there this weekend.
