Overall Difficulty:

The 36 and 58 milers incorporate Cobb Hill.  Cobb Hill is taxing even for the advanced cyclist.  Please do not fret if you have to walk Cobb Hill.  There is no shame in walking.  The 58 mile route is a demanding route which includes Cobb Hill and two additional major hills.

Since some of us will be racing the 5K, the AB group for the 58 miler will be a more “relaxed” A/B pace to some.  However, if you wish to hammer and do intervals, you are welcome.

Pace is based on effort and terrain.

Details:

We hope you will join us for the Fungus 5K and/or cycling throughout beautiful Estill County on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

The runs (2k starts at 8:30 am 5k starts at 9:00 am) and the ride (starts at 10:30 am) near the church.  (Please see  information about the Fungus 5K at http://www.mountainmushroomfestival.org/event.html .)  After strolling, jogging, or dashing through the 5K, we will then transition to biking gear.  If you do not wish to complete the 5K – no problem, please still come and ride.  Snacks and drinks will be provided before and after the ride.  Announcements will begin at 10:20 AM in the public parking lot and we hope to ride at 10:30 AM.

We will offer four super routes which will all stop at the historical Fitchburg Furnace.  If you wish to do less mileage, but want to see lovely scenery and drop by the iron furnace - the 26 or 30 mile routes are wonderful picks.  If you wish to tackle the infamous Cobb Hill (or Cobhill / Cob Hill) and see other intriguing sites - the 36 mile route is a great choice.  If you long to slay Cobb Hill, the Pompeii rollers, and more - the 58 miler is excellent alternative.  All routes have the opportunity to  visit The Twin for a Cherry Ale-8 and a smile at the end!

(http://www.estillcountyky.net/ ) Plus, after the ride, you can check out the many demonstrations, food vendors, shows, contests, booths, dancing, music, and  take a sack of Morels home from the 28th Mountain Mushroom Festival!  http://www.mountainmushroomfestival.org/

There are no store stops on the 26, 30, or 36 routes.  There is one store stop on the 58 miler.
