Details:
Take a ride through history from the Perryville Battlefield State
Historical Site.   For the first 4 miles, the route goes through the
battlefield itself, with many historical markers for those who want to take
the time to learn about the area.   Once in Perryville, you’ll ride on
Buell St., named for Federal General Don Carlos Buell, and Bragg St., named
for Confederate General Braxton Bragg.  On the 40-mile there is a potential
store stop at Connie’s Restaurant and Deli (after mile 28).  I’ve never
been there and know nothing about it except that it should be open during
our ride time.  There are also some gas stations and marts along the way.
In addition to Perryville, you’ll see the towns of Mitchellsburg, Forkland,
and Parksville.

For those who want to know, the short ride has appr. 20 miles with 1300
feet of climbing.  The medium ride has about 30 miles with 1600 feet of
climbing.  The long ride has 39 miles with 2200 feet of climbing.  There
are 2 big hills on the medium and long routes.  The first big hill on the
medium and long routes goes out of Mitchellsburg from mile 8.7 – 1016’ with
a gradually increasing grade (11.1% at its steepest) to mile 9.3 – 1290’,
at the top of Mitchellsburg Knob.  The second big hill goes from mile 21 –
990’ (12.4% at its steepest) to mile 21.5 – 1172’.

This ride was developed with the assistance of Annette Riehle.
