The Social Committee is bring back the Jack Jouett ride from 2016! “Jouett’s all-night ride (June 3-4, 1781) has been
termed one of the most important and colorful exploits of the Revolution. Of such importance was Jouett’s feat that
some historians believe that had Jefferson and the other distinguished leaders been captured, it might well have
spelled the end of the Revolution.” (jouetthouse.org)
This is hilly country but these are roads that we are not riding on a weekly basis so it should be enjoyable.
We are in beautiful Woodford County and a nice lunch of freshly smoked pulled pork sandwiches with all the fixins
will be waiting for you when you are done.
Bring a lawn chair, if you have one. There will be tables and chairs in the shade of their large trees. We have fun and
games planned. How about wheel barrel, or sack races not to mention water balloon fights! There will be prizes and
a photo booth. If that isn’t enough, Versailles has a 4th of July festival going on so be sure to visit it after the ride!
There is parking in the field next to the property with volunteers to guide you. Don’t forget to don your red, white and blue
jersey (especially if you the 2018 pedal for a purpose jersey) after all, this is our Independence Day celebration and
we will look amazing out there on the roads!
