Minutes from June approved

National Report- Columbia Missouri passed a Bicycle Harassment Ordinance, which fines motorists for throwing objects or verbally abusing cyclists.

Atlanta Bicycle Coalition had bike boxes painted on ground for cyclists to gather when they are crossing the street at heavily traveled intersections.  This initiative should increase the cyclists visibility while stopped at traffic lights.  

Vice President-

Tour of the Red River Gorge needs volunteers and support in the next 2 weeks.

2nd Sunday- Jay McCord leading this effort, this could be a spring board to get foundation money to build trails in Lexington.  He would like the BCC to have a presence at the event which is scheduled for October.  Feedback from last years event indicates that the flow of the bike ride was sporadic due to coordination issues with the police and vehicular traffic that had infiltrated the route.  A task force will be formed for the August meeting to coordinate club participation in the event.  

Mayors Bike Task Force- a press conference is being scheduled to announce the Share The Road signs, and they would like to have members of the BCC attend.  

Treasurer:  $55,000 in the bank, all Horsey expenses have been paid

Reports-

Race- nothing to report.

Ride-259 rides have been led this year, resulting in 74,322 club miles being ridden.  There are 69 rides scheduled to be completed in July and 51 scheduled for August so far.  

Nominating- Nothing to report.

Events-

Horsey Hundred- Planning will start in September.

Bike MS- The team came within $150 of achieving the goal of raising $24,000 for the MS Society and the team is starting to form for 2010.   

Red River Rally- Patrick and Jerrell Goodpaster have scouted the Sunday routes.  There may be an additional rest stop for the 65 mile route.  Patrick would like to start the 65 mile riders earlier, so that they could return close to the riders on the shorter route.  Patrick and Jerrell will scout the Saturday route this weekend.  There may also be a shorter option offered on Sunday.  Peggy will spearhead the t-shirt/jersey effort this year.

Membership- 449 members at this point, compared to 470 last year.
The Legends game was attended by 23 people, and a number of people expressed interest in the club, and received info from the club table.  Those in attendance had a wonderful time, and Jamie would like to make this an annual event.  

Advocacy- Nothing to report.

Social- Nothing to report.

Education- Nothing to report.

Philanthropic- Nothing to report.

Ironman- Robert Underwood is leading the volunteer effort again for this event, which will take place August 30.  He would like to have a bike ride covering the Ironman course before the event on August 2nd.  A motion to sponsor this ride with funds to cover a SAG driver, and one rest stop with snacks and drinks passed.  The club will donate $250 of the Ironmans contribution to the BCC to the Bluegrass Triathlon club in recognition of their volunteer efforts with the BCC at the Ironman event.

Twitter- Dixie Moore would like to change the twitter account for the Horsey Hundred to a general club account.  A motion to do this was passed.

Merchandise- Dwayne Edwards will arrange for pre-ordered polo shirts to be embroidered with a club logo, information for ordering the shirts will be posted to the forum.

Meeting adjourned at 9pm.

Next meeting will be August 12 at 7pm at Peggy Littrells house.
